John Travolta Lifts the Spirits of the Military

DONNA KELLEY, CNN ANCHOR: Actor John Travolta, making the rounds to promote his new movie, but the Hollywood celeb is also taking time to raise the spirits of the people in the U.S. military. Walt Maciborski of the CNN affiliate WXIA followed Travolta to a base in suburban Atlanta.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
WALT MACIBORSKI, WXIA CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): He came to say thank you. Movie star John Travolta was in Atlanta to promote a new movie, but he heard Dobbins Air Reserve Base was nearby, and he wanted to stop in to honor the people he calls stars.
JOHN TRAVOLTA, ACTOR: I think our troops that are protecting us deserve support and admiration and pride. And that's why I'm here.
MACIBORSKI: An avid pilot, Travolta was treated to a flight on the C-130 simulator. Then, he offered his services.
TRAVOLTA: So, can I get to serve in the military now?
MACIBORSKI: But his main mission was to shake hands, sign autographs and lift spirits.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: It makes us feel like they're sharing our pain, so...
(CROSSTALK)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: And they care about us, the service people.
MACIBORSKI: So, mission accomplished.
TRAVOLTA: Thanks, guys. Thanks for having me. I appreciate it.
