CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: Stars will be shinning brightest tonight in Beverly Hills where the 59th annual Golden Globe awards will be handed out.
Television and film actors are gearing up for what some consider the best predictor of the upcoming Oscars in March. CNN's Alisha Davis is outside the Beverly Hilton Hotel where the ceremony is going to be taking place.
Alisha, are any of the stars arriving just yet or is it too early?
ALISHA DAVIS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: It's a little bit too early for the stars, but I will tell you, the tension is mounting now and so is the security. I don't know if you can see behind me, but we have some uniforms are now out. We are about two and a half hours away from the show. Inside they are rehearsing as we speak. Outside the bleachers are filled with fans who are waiting to see all their favorite star including Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe who are leading the way today.
They have six nominations apiece, or their films rather. There is "A Beautiful Mind" which is the true story of Nobel Prize Winning mathematician, John Nash, Jr. And many are saying that it is in fact, Russell's year. He did not win the Golden Globe last year for Gladiator, even though he took home the Oscar. Tom Hanks actually took home the Golden Globe, so the smart money is on him this year, and of course his fellow Australian Nicole Kidman, her film "Moulin Rouge" also had six nominations this year.
And joining me now to talk about the Golden Globes is...
DICK CLARK, ENTERTAINER: Go ahead, I love to hear my name.
DAVIS: Dick Clark.
CLARK: Is Russell Crowe really an Australian, or is he a New Zealander? Because I have to ask him that later.
Now, you are the authority, you are in the news business.
DAVIS: I am going to go ahead and say Australia. You have got me chattering my teeth too, Dick. Let's move on.
CLARK: Go ahead.
DAVIS: Let's talk about you, OK. What is the biggest challenge pulling these things together?
CLARK: Getting them in here tonight. Security is very tight. We have the usual jam here and not too long from here they will begin arriving. Hopefully they will get into the ballroom and we will get the show underway.
DAVIS: And now, tell me, what have you been up to today? Any last minute changes? I know there must be.
CLARK: Just a couple of little inconsequential things. We run the show through with stand-ins. We read the copy, we jiggle a little bit. I is just fine tuning at this point, and then you hold your fingers together. DAVIS: Right, and give us peek back stage. What is happening right now as they are getting ready?
CLARK: Right now, there is absolutely nothing happening because we have no panic. People are changing clothes, they are eating a sandwich, they are looking at their watch. This is the hard part. Let's do it!
DAVIS: All right, well, there you go. This show is going to get underway in two and a half hours. Dick Clark, thank you so much for joining us. Carol back to you.
LIN: All right, Alisha, of course you are what you wear to these things. Let me check you the outfit. What do you have on?
DAVIS: Uh Oh, I have a jacket, Ralph Lauren -- hoo-hoo-hoo--hoo -- dress...
LIN: Very Stylish.
DAVIS: Shoes -- pan up -- oh, don't show the shoes too much -- come on up to the dress.
LIN: Ooh baby, you are going to make it onto "Entertainment Tonight."
Thanks, Alisha. Have fun tonight.
DAVIS: I will.
