CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi are facing off in Flushing, New York right now -- fighting it out for the U.S. Open men's tennis championship.
CNN's sports reporter, Josie Karp, is at the Open. She joins us by telephone with an update. Josie, what's the score?

JOSIE KARP, CNN SPORTS CORRESPONDENT: Well, Carol, right now Pete Sampras is ahead. He won the first two sets 6-3, 6-4. But they're on serve right now in the third set actually playing the 10th game and it's getting to be a very dramatic moment.

Going into this match, everyone said no matter what the outcome was it was going to be a great day for American tennis. These two are legends in tennis. But going into this tournament really nobody would have ever bet that either one of them would be in the final -- let alone that they would be playing each other.

And the actual level of play when it comes to the tennis on the court hasn't really lived up to the billing.

It's interesting to listen to the way the crowd is reacting though. Yesterday we had Venus and Serena Williams, two sisters, playing in the women's final, and it was sort of like the crowd didn't know who to root for, and it's almost the same in this match as well.

One thing Andre Agassi said yesterday is that it's like, you know, I grew with Pete, so it's almost like these two guys are brothers, and the crowd is really getting behind, Carol, the one that seems to need the push the most, and right now that's Andre Agassi -- Carol.

LIN: All right, we'll keep watching. Thanks so much. Josie Karp, out there at the U.S. Open.
