CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: The first "Harry Potter" sequel is on its way to the movie screens. "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is about to premiere in New York today. And there's a lot of excitement at the Ziegfield Theater where CNN's Jodi Ross is standing by. Jodi, you know, this movie is produced by Time Warner, and AOL company, I've got to say, it is our parent company, but that doesn't reduce our excitement about it, because there's just so much buzz about this movie.
JODI ROSS, CNN ENTERTAINMENT CORRESPONDENT: Yes, Carol, thank you for clearing that up. That's true.
The buzz, what can I say? The first film made somewhat like $900 million. It was so popular. The highest grossing film of 2001. So the anticipation for this movie is so huge that this piece of paper right here, this ticket is like gold tonight. This means everything; this is what got you into the premiere, which is actually still screening in the theater behind me. It should let out in about 15, 10 minutes or so.
The crowds were crazy here earlier. It was mostly the teen and the pre-teen set, and of course those are the biggest fans of the books, but there were lots of adults here, too, and lots of celebrities, as there always are at premieres.
What's being spoken about this movie is from critic's reviews and also the stars of the film is that it's an edgier and darker and scarier film than the first one, and that it's better than the first one, too. I'm not the only one who thinks that. I actually did see the film and enjoyed it, but critics are saying the same thing, and of course the stars of the film are saying the same thing as well.
We spoke with Daniel Radcliffe, the young star whose life has changed since "Harry Potter" began.

ROSS: Have you seen your performance yet and do you like yourself on screen?
DANIEL RADCLIFFE, "HARRY POTTER" STAR: I don't like watching myself at all, but I've seen it three times, almost four now when I go in there. But no, I have -- I don't like watching myself. But I like watching everybody else.
ROSS: Do you think it's a better movie than the first one? RADCLIFFE: I think so. I think -- but it sounds like I'm putting the first one down; I'm really not. The first one is a really special, a really special film. The second one, I just think it's even better.

ROSS: Now, the film opens on Friday. That's this Friday, but I promise you, that this week will be Harry Potter mania and madness. It was the same way last year. And for all those fans out there, they're actually starting to shoot the third film in February, and that should come out some time in the following year.
One sad note tonight: Of course, we discussed Richard Harris with some of the people online (ph) tonight. He passed away a couple of weeks ago, and he of course had a big role in the film. He was Professor Dumbledore in the first and the second movie. What they're going to do to replace them, we don't know. I spoke with Chris Columbus, the director, and he says he really can't see anyone else in the role, so obviously they're going to have to give that some thought, since that is a key part of this picture.
Carol, are you going to see the movie this weekend? Because the lines are going to be long.
LIN: All right. Thanks for the warning, Jodi. And boy, I'm glad to hear that they're shooting the third movie already, because Daniel Radcliffe's voice is getting lower, don't you think?
ROSS: You noticed that, too? Exactly. He's growing up. The kids are growing up. They've got to wrap them up quickly, because this is the age -- these kids are turning 12 and 13 and 14, and this is where the changes come.
LIN: Oh, but they're so adorable, and he looks just like Harry Potter on the book cover. Thanks so much, Jodi Ross. You have a good time out there tonight.
ROSS: Thank you.
