ANDERSON COOPER, CNN ANCHOR: There are still no signs of Laci Peterson, the pregnant California woman last seen on Christmas Eve. I'm sure you heard about her. Searchers combed San Francisco Bay and the marina where Peterson's husband went fishing. Ed Lavandera has been following this so far fruitless effort from Modesto -- Ed.
ED LAVANDERA, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Anderson, the efforts to find Laci Peterson are moving on two fronts. An investigative police front, and as well as search teams that have been fanned out across this area to try to find her.
We understand that that search efforts have been basically surrounding the Modesto area, that is where they have been looking over the course of the last 24 hours, using search cadaver dogs to find Laci Peterson.
Also on Saturday, they sent a team of dogs to the Berkeley marina. That's where Scott Peterson says he went fishing on December 24. We understand that those search teams have not returned to the Berkeley marina today. This, of course, is part of the wider part of the investigation, the search efforts. Officers here say that will continue to happen for the next couple of days. They have good weather in this area forecasted for the next couple of days, so officers here say they'll be taking advantage of that good weather.
There have been about 1,600 phone tips that have been called into police here involving this case. And if you remember, a few days ago, police started asking the public for information about Scott Peterson's truck and boat, and where that might have been on the days between December 23 and December 25. Asked yesterday if whether or not any information has been coming in as to where -- his whereabouts, where he was between those days, officers saying publicly that there hasn't been any information to corroborate his story that has come forward at this point. Although, when it comes to Scott Peterson, after that day when they released those pictures here, authorities have been keeping much information and many of the comments about Scott Peterson very close to the vest, not saying much very publicly.
Also, the search has also returned here to the Modesto area, at least over the course of the last 24 hours. We understand crews went back into Laci Peterson's neighborhood, combing the neighborhood where her house is, and also the park where she was supposed to have walked her dog. In fact, going as far as lifting up manhole covers just to double-check everything. And this is the kind of effort -- there's a team of about 100 officers working this case, Anderson, and police here say that they will continue to work at these levels as long as they can, that there are no plans to scale back the search efforts for Laci Peterson -- Anderson.
COOPER: And Ed, have police said anything about Scott Peterson's level of cooperation in the investigation?
LAVANDERA: Well, several days ago when the pictures were put out, I asked one of the police officers here if Scott Peterson was cooperating with police. And the answer was, yes, he is cooperating, but only to a certain degree.
Yesterday the police officers were asked the exact same question, if he is cooperating. And the answer was just a simple yes. So, you know, it's kept a lot of people here speculating as to what exactly might be the case, but that's the extent of how far they'll go in answering any kind of question about Scott Peterson at this point.
COOPER: All right, Ed Lavandera, thanks very much.
