CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: OK, I admit it. I'm a little intrigued by that "Bachelorette" reality show. OK, it's hardly the editorial equal of breaking news but come on, the show touches on some key obstacles for all of us. Is true love out there and how do you know? And, it poses those questions with a combination of beauty and brain.
Earlier I talked with "The Bachelorette," Trista Rehn.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
LIN: We're going to cut to the chase.
TRISTA REHN, "THE BACHELORETTE": OK.
LIN: Is it Charlie or Ryan?
REHN: And I'm going to cut to the chase and say I can't tell you.
LIN: OH, we're going to find out this Wednesday, right?
REHN: Yes, only three more days.
LIN: Yes, this has got to be hard for you.
REHN: It has been hard but it's been a very fun ride. I'm very anxiously awaiting Wednesday night when I'll be able to actually watch a show with him and Thursday when I can actually shout his name from the rooftops. So, I'm anxious but it's all been good. It's OK.
LIN: Is it true that ABC has a $5 million policy on making sure that the name does not get out?
REHN: Oh, yes. If I spill the beans then they'll sue me for $5 million.
LIN: That's it?
REHN: Yes.
LIN: Well, you know, there were reports that you were seen in a car with Charlie.
REHN: Yes and those reports were incorrect.
LIN: So, you haven't seen this person at all in the last few months?
REHN: Well, I've seen my man before the show started airing. They had a couple of rendezvous that they set up for us, but no it was all set up by the production team. I would never be caught with either one of them because that's just plain stupid.
LIN: Yes.
REHN: I'm really not that dumb. I mean $5 million hanging over my head and if I actually was speeding, which is also what they reported, I wouldn't have been that stupid to have risked it. I would have been going like five miles an hour, you know.
LIN: Are you in love?
REHN: I am in love, yes.
LIN: Are you engaged?
REHN: I can't tell you.
LIN: Are you pregnant?
REHN: No.
LIN: You know, where did that come from?
REHN: Because I was going to a shower for one of my best friends who just had a baby about two weeks ago. So, I was in a shop in L.A. and an entertainment reporter from L.A. actually saw me in the shop and I think that's where the whole rumor started. But who knows, I mean, people waste their time making up lots of stuff about me, so maybe they just made that one up. Maybe it didn't come from the shop.
LIN: So, should any of us be surprised if we find out that you're married in six months to a year?
REHN: Married right now?
LIN: No, married six months to a year from now.
REHN: Oh, I can't tell you. I can't tell you.
LIN: Because that was the goal going in, right?
REHN: The goal was to find somebody that I could establish a committed relationship with and not necessarily a marriage but yes, I looked at engagement.
When I was on "The Bachelor" I considered it but because my parents are divorced I took it very, very, very seriously and I've always said that if I was to be engaged that it would be a very non- traditional engagement and I would take a very long time.
So, you know I can't tell whether or not I am this time around but I did take it very seriously when the decision had to be made. LIN: Is this really the way that -- a practical way these days now in the new millennium to find love on television?
REHN: I don't know if I'd call it practical but it was just my way. I had this great opportunity and I couldn't pass it up because it was a great opportunity. It's not like I'm saying to everyone out there that they need to get their own reality show and have ABC get them 25 people of the other gender to have for them.
But, I think for me it ended up with the fairy tale, so I have been singing their praises. I just am so appreciative that I got to experience this process.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
LIN: Well, there you go, "The Bachelorette," and that's it for us on a show that will bring you the world and reality television too.
