MARTIN SAVIDGE, CNN ANCHOR: The girlfriend of missing Baylor University athlete says that he sounded fine the last time that she talked with him. That was the day he was last seen. Jessica De La Rosa recalls having a normal conversation with Patrick Dennehy on June 11.
Let's go to CNN's Ed Lavandera in Waco for the latest details -- Ed.
ED LAVANDERA, CNN DALLAS BUREAU CHIEF: Hi, Marty.
Well, that also seems to gel with what we've heard today from several of Patrick Dennehy's neighbors in the apartment complex. That building you see down the road from me is the basketball coliseum here where the Baylor Bears play their basketball games. Right across the street from that is where Patrick lived. His neighbors, several of his neighbors telling us today that they last saw him back in early June and that everything seemed to be fine.
Now Waco Police -- he's officially been missing since June 11 and Waco Police say they're treating his disappearance as a murder investigation and they also have reason to believe that he might have been murdered in the Waco area. Now authorities also have sent a Waco -- from Waco have sent an investigator out to Virginia, where Patrick Dennehy's car was found in the last couple of days. So they're looking into why that happened there. There doesn't appear to be any connection between Dennehy and Virginia. Dennehy grew up in the Northern California area, also went to school in New Mexico, where he -- Jessica De La Rosa, his girlfriend, is from as well. And just a short while ago, Ms. De La Rosa says that everything seemed fine, as you said, Marty and that they've been through a lot in the last year or so, but that everything seemed fine on June 11 and that he promised to call her the next day.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JESSICA DE LA ROSA, DENNEHNY'S GIRLFRIEND: I did speak to him on June 11 and, as you know, this past year has been trying for us with Patrick leaving and both of us still focus on our careers and on his academics. I can't say anything about any problems because that might -- that is one thing to the investigation right now.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
LAVANDERA: Marty, one last thing here. Waco Police have scheduled a briefing for tomorrow afternoon regarding this case. They say that could change at any moment. But we'll be here to cover that throughout tomorrow as well. Marty, back to you.
SAVIDGE: And we'll stay in touch with you. Ed Lavandera, reporting from Waco, thanks.
