ANDREA KOPPEL, CNN ANCHOR: A mystery still in Waco, Texas. Could a body found Friday be that of missing Baylor basketball player Patrick Dennehy? Officials say give them a couple of more days. Our Mike Brooks is in Waco, and he joins us now live this evening. Mike, any sense as to just how much longer?
MIKE BROOKS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Andrea, I spoke a short time ago with the sheriff's spokesperson here. He said they weren't expecting any results today. It would be iffy if they got anything back tomorrow, and possibly Tuesday.

But investigators were back on the scene today of a gravel pit where a body was found Friday evening by sheriff's investigators. Now, this gravel pit, Andrea, is four miles from the Baylor University Campus. It also -- the discovery was also made less than a mile from where sheriff's investigators had been searching earlier last week with no results.

So this was very, very close to where they had been, but this was an area that had not been searched before.

The body was taken to a forensics lab in Dallas, where they are going to perform an autopsy and an identification. That's what the captain of the sheriff's office was speaking about today. And he said that if they do get results, that the medical examiner and the sheriff would get together and make a joint statement. When that will be, it still remains unclear -- Andrea.

KOPPEL: Mike, Patrick Dennehy was certainly not somebody who blended into the crowd, at 6'10". Have you gotten any sense from talking to your sources as to just why the coroner's investigation and autopsy is going to take so long to determine if in fact it is Patrick Dennehy?

BROOKS: That's a very good question. Captain Wash (ph) of the sheriff's office here in McClennan County said that the reason was it is taking so long is because the body is so badly decomposed. I asked him if the body was totally intact. It's not a very pleasant subject. But he said with the severe decomposition that the body -- he indicated that the body may not be totally intact, so it would take some time, and possibly use DNA to help them in their identification -- Andrea.

KOPPEL: Mike Brooks in Waco. Thanks very much.
