LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Well it'll be traditional fare when President Bush and some family members and friends get to sit down to Thanksgiving dinner at Camp David today.

CNN White House correspondent Kelly Wallace is spending her Thanksgiving Day camped out near Camp David as well.

Happy Thanksgiving Kelly.

KELLY WALLACE, CNN WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENT: Happy Thanksgiving to you too Leon.

Well we know the president will be spending time today with family and friends and staff members. The White House a little tight- lipped about exactly who will be at the presidential retreat, but we do know from the First Lady's office, a little bit about the presidential Thanksgiving Day menu and here it is.

It includes roast turkey with maple butter glaze, cornbread dressing, sweet potato puree, green beans, and then for dessert, Leon, pumpkin pie with ginger. Now of course we saw the president showing off his turkey carving skills yesterday during a visit to rally the troops at Fort Campbell, Kentucky -- very funny. The First Lady expressing some concern saying the president usually uses an electric knife, but he seemed to get the job done yesterday even using a lower tech alternative.

Now the president also during his visit thanking the troops, saying this Thanksgiving Day Americans very, very grateful for their service. The president also, though, saying that the most difficult steps in this campaign in Afghanistan are still ahead and then he sent another message to America. He said a victory in Afghanistan will not mean that this war against terrorism is over.

GEORGE W. BUSH, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: We fight the terrorists and we fight all of those who give them aid. America has a message for the nations of the world. If you harbor terrorists, you are a terrorist. If you train or arm a terrorist, you are a terrorist. If you feed a terrorist or fund a terrorist, you're a terrorist and you will be held accountable by the United States and our friends (ph).

(END VIDEO CLIP)

WALLACE: Now a message, we have heard from the president before, but Mr. Bush clearly using that appearance to let the American people know that Afghanistan is just the beginning. Now Leon, the president while spending some time with family and friends, he will also be in touch with his national security team, conducting briefings by a video teleconference. He'll be spending the next few days at Camp David, back at the White House on Sunday. Leon, back to you.

HARRIS: All right, thanks Kelly. Happy Thanksgiving once again. Kelly Wallace reporting live for us this morning.
