Mexican Singer Puts Her Own Spin On a Classic

ASIEH NAMDAR, CNN ANCHOR: It's one of the most popular disco songs of the 1970s: Gloria Gainer's hit, "I Will Survive."
SHIHAB RATTANSI, CNN ANCHOR: A Mexican diva has put her own spin on the classic. Mexico's MVS introduces us to the legend.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE, MVS CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): The Queen of Salsa, (UNINTELLIGIBLE) presents latest production. "I Will Always Sleep," which is the salsa version of the hit song, "I Will Survive," sung by Gloria Gainer, and is sung by Mexican singer Vicente Fernandez.
We spoke with her and she told us that this city is a (UNINTELLIGIBLE), which was a close friend of hers. It was produced by (UNINTELLIGIBLE).
Her voice, charisma, and talent have made her become one the top selling artists in Latin America. But she has a dream. (UNINTELLIGIBLE).
She has over 7 records that have sold millions of copies around the world. She was nominated 12 times for a Grammy, winning the first one in 1989. She also has 3 Ph.d. by Yale University, Florida International University and Miami University.
She lives in New York City, rather than Miami, as most people think. The reason: she prefers the cold weather, rather than the hot weather from the sunny city. (UNINTELLIGIBLE) will spend Christmas in Spain,and New Years in Atlanta with her family.
